All mattresses sold in the USA have to meet the Federal Government regulation on Fire Retardant. Enso does not use chemicals, we use a FR Barrier that is made with fiberglass fibers that surrounds the foam stack and conforms with the Federal Government Regulation. This is commonly called an "FR Sock" in the industry, and is used by the vast majority of Memory Foam mattresses.
The foam is CertiPur foam which means it is regularly independently tested in a laboratory and certified to meet voluntary internationally approved standards for content, emissions and durability. CertiPur foams are low in emissions (VOCs), made without ozone depleters, made without PBDEs, made without mercury, lead, or heavy metals, made without fomaldehyde, and made without any prohibited phthalates.
